Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic Services are provided on a case-by-case basis. Every patient will be evaluated and the Doctor will determine what recommendations to make. During the evaluation, Chiropractors attempt to determine the origin of the problem, not just the symptoms, so we will ask questions about lifestyle and stress levels. We also pay much attention to the spine and any misalignments of the vertebrae that protect the spinal cord. We develop a diagnosis and a probable cause of your pain, so we can address the problem, not the symptoms. The patient is able to decide what treatments to receive and the Doctor and Patient will work as a team to improve the function and well-being of the Patient.
Misalignments are referred to as "subluxations" and can cause "kinks" in the nervous systems communication. This communication problem is often the origin of the pain and these subluxations can cause many problems in the body. If you take pain killers, the pain is gone, but the communication problem is still there and will continue until the real origin is discovered. Let us find the problem and remove it allowing the nervous system to communicate normally.
Corrective Exercises
At Natural Wellness and Chiropractic, Inc., we teach our patients how to perform special "blueprint" exercises which can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in their body which may be causing pain. Many of these corrective exercises can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan. In addition to skeletal misalignment, you may be experiencing pain that is caused by muscles and connective tissues which are out of their proper place. Other types of pain such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches are caused by muscles and tissues that are being used improperly, causing injuries over time. In each case, targeted corrective exercises and stretches from our experienced chiropractor will help you feel good while also helping your body achieve balance and health.
Lifestyle Advice
Many of our patients come to see our chiropractor to address a specific pain symptom such as back pain, neck pain or headaches. While our chiropractor will address each patient's specific condition with chiropractic care, we often find it helpful to "coach" our patients towards achieving a healthier lifestyle. For example, there may be certain activities that you should avoid or do differently to prevent yourself from unintentionally aggravating your particular health challenges. The goal of including lifestyle advice with a chiropractic care plan is to help each and every patient achieve the fulfilling and happy lifestyle they deserve, one that is full of the activities that are enjoyed most. We recognize that every single one of our patients is a whole person, and we use our expertise to help them reach total health and wellness.
Nutritional Counseling
What does nutrition have to do with chiropractic care? The goal of chiropractic care is to help patients achieve total health and balance with their body, and as part of that goal we provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices. Nutritional counseling by our experienced chiropractic health professionals can assist a patient on their return to optimal health. Do you know which supplements and vitamins are good for you? Do you know how these supplements and vitamins interact with one another? At our Longwood chiropractic clinic, we can provide each patient with a structured nutritional program that is based on their individual needs.
Massage Therapy
A massage relaxes muscles, easing and soothing your aches and pains away. Massage rejuvenates, restores balance to the body, increases blood flow and calms the nerves. With this new found balance we can better deal with all the things that life throws at us.
Every patient deserves a customized massage. I offer many different types of massage to choose from:
| Swedish |
In your Home or Office |
| Deep Tissue | Corporate Chair Massage |
| Trigger Point | Massage Parties (No Saturdays) |
| Myofascial Release | Injuries or Accident Recovery |
| Manual Lymph(atic) Drainage | Sports |
Massage Therapy Techniques
Swedish Massage - soothing, flowing, relaxing massage to reduce stress for overall relaxation by applying pressure to the muscles against the deeper muscles and bones, rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Friction is reduced by using oil or baby powder. The goal is to aid the return of blood from the extremities, increase circulation, remove metabolic wastes and stretch the ligaments and tendons and stimulate the nervous system to relax the body.Deep Tissue - deep pressure massage to loosen knots and reduce stress by breaking up muscle tightness, slowly working into the deep layers of muscle and releasing congestion in the tissues. This is a bit uncomfortable at times, but still altered to the patient's tolerance level.
Trigger Point - Swedish massage with special attention paid to painful knots. The therapist locates and "releases" trigger points which are often areas where muscle tissue has been damaged. The goal is to reduce spasm and increase blood flow which in turn deactivates the pain nerves and stops the spasm-pain cycle. This trigger point release can be painful for a few seconds but relieves the cause of the pain and gradually the muscle becomes more pliable and comfortable.
Myofascial Release - to evaluate and release those tense muscles that limit motion. The restrictions in the connective tissues and fascia cause the entire group of muscles to "stick" together reducing their ability to move and stretch. Myofascial release is used to reduce the spasm, break up "sticking" points in the fascia and allow more flexibility and function.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy - Very light massage for post-surgery swelling, speeds the flow of lymphatic fluid with gentle rhythmical movements which speeds healing after any surgical procedure or certain injuries or conditions (ie. Edema)
Sports Massage - Active massage to stretch and warm up tissues that are exposed to strenuous exercise. For the serious athlete who trains hard and long it focuses on the muscles needed for the particular sport and can be used before or after an event to lessen occurrence of injury and reduce recovery time.
90 minute Massage in your home or office in Lake Mary, Longwood, Altamonte or Maitland.
